First Grade
Welcome to First Grade at Randolph Heights!
We are looking forward to the opportunity to work with you and your child this year with much excitement and enthusiasm. The growth of first graders is incredible! Our classrooms are filled with lots of learning, hard work, and fun. We strongly believe in a partnership between the children, parents, and teachers where support and involvement are encouraged and welcomed. When we all try our best, we are able to achieve high standards.

Math
Math Homework will be sent home in a packet at the start of each unit. Each packet has a family letter to explain the learning of the unit. The date for returning the completed packet will be attached. Students should complete one activity each night as a general rule. However, you can adjust homework to your schedule as long as the packet is returned on the due date.

Requirements for Book Club Books:
- Read the book at least twice each night to an adult.
- Complete the included homework sheet by the next Book Club day.
- Kids will get a new book on Tuesdays & Thursdays.
Spelling
The weekly newsletter will list the spelling patterns/words that will be worked on in class the following week.
Newsletter
Included in the Friday Folder will be a weekly newsletter which goes home with the students. This will include updates about what we're going to learn, spelling words for the week, reading vocabulary, letter sounds, Math concepts and news about upcoming events.
Friday Folders
We keep families informed about what is going on in First Grade, by sending home a folder at the end of the week. In this folder, you will find a newsletter, the majority of your child's papers from the week and school notices.
