Welcome to the principal's office...
May 11, 2012
Dear Randolph Heights Families:
This week, families that applied to attend Randolph Heights received word whether they were accepted. Like last year, we had strong interest in our school and were unfortunately not able to accept all students who applied.
Our enrollment system can be confusing, so I want to clarify to be sure that your children end up enrolled and registered where you want them next year. Here are the procedures for various groups and grades:
Current students in K-5 are automatically enrolled and do not need to register.
Current students in Pre-K are automatically enrolled in kindergarten but must register at the school.
Current 6th graders must apply and enroll at a junior high and must register at that school.
New students entering Pre-K, kindergarten and grades 1-6 need to have been accepted by the Student Placement Center and must register at the school.
Registration and orientation for new students in grades PreK-6 will be Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at 5:30 for incoming Pre-K students and grades 1-6 students and at 6:00 for incoming kindergarteners. For all students enrolled for 2012-13, our fall open house and meet-the-teacher night will be Thursday, August 30, 2012.
I am pleased to announce that I have posted an opening for a part-time music teacher next fall. This person will provide all students in K-6 with one period of music instruction per week. This will strengthen our alignment with the Core Knowledge Curriculum and provide an excellent base of music appreciation and understanding for all of our students. I am grateful to the PTA for agreeing to provide funding for some of the start-up costs for this new teacher. We hope to be able to continue in partnership with the MacPhail Center For Music in some way as well. Our school band program will be offered after school.
I hope you get to enjoy the spring weather with your kids this week!
Sincerely,
Karen Duke
Principal
