Introduction to Gifted Services
SEM1.JPG
Gifted Services at Randolph Heights provide general enrichment for all students and educational services and opportunity directly to identified gifted and talented  students. Various levels of services provide for both enrichment and acceleration of curriculum.  Students are identified by use of the school district test, the Naglieri Nonverbal Assessment Test (NNAT),  which is administered in January to all Kindergarten and second grade students. Students can also be nominated for services by teachers. Students are assessed in three areas; we look for evidence of above average achievement, above average creativity,

and a high level of task commitment and motivation.

Programming for gifted services at Randolph Heights is based on Donald J. Treffinger;s Levels of Service (LoS) Framework. These are services that are for ALL students or MANY students, or SOME students, or for a FEW students. The level of service depends on the educational needs and abilities of the students.

Level 1 services - for ALL students - include such activities as the Enrichment Cluster classes, all-school assemblies, the Talent Show, field trips, the Student Showcase, flexible reading, writing and math groups, and differentiated instruction.

2 services - for MANY students include the National Geography Bee, the Philosophers SLAM,  Math Enrichment groups, Student Council, and Book Club, to name a few.

Level 3 services - for SOME students - High Flyers classes in the Gifted Services resource room under the direction of the specialist, and participation in contests such as Math Masters, Young Inventor's Fair, and Destination Imagination or attending the Young Author's Conference.

Level 4 services - for a FEW students - might mean completing an independent project or doing accelerated learning in a subject or grade skipping.
